Did you know that it’s possible to study in the UK without IELTS?
Although IELTS is generally considered a prerequisite for your application and a good IELTS score strengthens it, IELTS can be waived if students meet certain criteria.

Conditions in which IELTS is waived:
->An assessment of your class X and XII English language scores
Some UK universities will consider competence in the language of an applicant based on the score in matriculation and senior secondary in English. Admissions of students with a score of 60% or above in 10th and 12th class are allowed by some UK universities. Sometimes only your class 12th score is taken into consideration since it’s the later of the two scores.

->If you studied in an English medium school
If the students have English as the medium of instruction throughout their academic life and overall good grades, then an admission committee may waive the IELTS requirement.

->Conducting a Telephone/Skype interview
Before making a final decision on applications, some universities prefer to speak to the applicants. Usually they are interviewed over telephone calls which could be at your nearest test centre. This interview can determine their English language competence and if they manage to impress the interviewer sufficiently, there is a good chance that university may waive IELTS.

Intakes of UK Universities:
The academic year in the UK tracks from September to July. The preponderance of university courses in London begin in September, even though some courses also begin in January and February. September intake is better than the January intake considering the density of courses offered.

The deadlines for each intake are usually a few months prior to the start date. It is extremely important that you apply early to exploit your chances for admission.

Required application documents:
Along with your personal information, you will need to submit photocopied evidence confirming your identity and academic history. These may include:
• Birth certificate
• Passport, national identification card
• Reference letters, if required
• Evidence of English competency (TOEFL, IELTS, C1 Advanced scores)
• Copies of degree/diploma certificates
• Academic transcripts

Graduate applicants may also be required to submit a research proposal.
Most or all of the document copies will have to be verified by a professional authority who will confirm their authenticity. If a document/statement is not in English, an official notarized translation may be required. In some cases, universities may ask for additional documents after you have submitted your application. To avoid delays or missed deadlines send your evidence with plenty of time in advance.

Visa Categories:
There are two student categories under Tier 4 of the points-based system:
• Tier 4 (General) Student Visa – This category is for students coming to the UK for higher education and the applicant must be at least 16 years old.
• Tier 4 (Child) Student Visa – This category is for children between 4 and 15 years of age coming to the UK for their education. Children between 4 and 15 years old can only be educated at independent fee-paying schools.
If you are enrolled in a bachelors degree program or higher at a UK college that is listed on both the official UKBA Sponsor list and the list of recognized bodies, you are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week for (Tier 4 General) and work full-time during vacations or summer holidays.

Latest update: The UK government has announced the reinstatement of the two-year post-study work visa for international students. The new immigration rules will benefit those international students who are planning to pursue their higher studies in the UK starting from 2020-21.
Cost of Visa
The fee for the Tier 4 General Visa is £348. The methods of payment are stated below.
• Online using either a MasterCard or Visa card
• Through demand draft at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.
• Through Cash at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.

Documents:

You should have the following documents before applying:

• A completed student visa application form
A letter of acceptance on the course – Your approved education provider will give you an acceptance letter (CAS) and a visa letter which are official and unconditional offers of a place on a course of study. The visa letter must be issued no more than six months before you apply. The applications where the visa letters are older than six months will be refused.
Having a visa letter does not guarantee the application will be successful. The applicant must meet all the requirements of the category and any other requirements of the immigration rules.
• Proof of funds – The money you need to show covers your course fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of nine months. You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application.

The tuition fees to study in the UK ranges from 10,000 GBP to 22,000 GBP per annum. The tuition fees mostly depends on the university that you are applying to and the average living expenses would be around 10,000 GBP to 12000 GBP per annum depending on the location of the University.
