Why Britain?

  1. UK qualifications are recognised by employers and organisations worldwide
  2. The UK education system has a reputation for quality standards at all levels with many institutions considered to be among the best in the world for teaching and research
  3. UK courses encourage independence, creativity and self-reliance: the kinds of qualities that employers around the world are looking for
  4. Degree courses last three years (not four as in many other countries), and master’s degree courses can take one year (not two), dramatically reducing your costs
  5. A safe environment, established support services for international students and likely access to free healthcare
  6. Thousands of scholarship opportunities
  7. A fun and friendly student culture
  8. Opportunities for part-time and vacation work in the UK as well as organised work placements at leading businesses as part of courses
  9. A base for exploring historic parts of the UK and mainland Europe
  10. Experience of living as part of a multicultural society

The United Kingdom (UK) is reputed for its excellent quality of education, interactive teaching methodology, top ranking universities and great student satisfaction.

The unique factor of education system in the UK is its Quality Assurance Agency. It is an independent body that assesses and compares universities and colleges in the country through regular audits and reviews. It also identifies the best education practices and provides feedback for areas of improvement. This ensures that the students have access to the best quality of education.

Higher Education: Higher education in the UK mostly comprises bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. As an international student, you may also transition to university level studies via pathway programs that generally include English language courses and foundation courses.

Undergraduate courses: Undergraduate courses are designed to help students get exposure to a whole new world after school whilst providing a thorough understanding of a subject of interest. The UK offers a variety of courses in humanities, social science, art, design, business, technology, science and more!

Postgraduate studies: Postgraduate courses are more specific and involve in-depth study. Most master’s degrees have duration of one year, which means you can be back in the workforce faster than your counterparts pursuing masters in other countries. There is a plethora of courses to choose from including niche courses that are highly valued in the industry.

Pathway programs: These are preparatory courses for seeking admission into universities through English Language learning programs or foundation-level courses. Pathway programs can help enter university-level studies in the country and help strengthen your language skills as well. These are offered by both universities and private institutions to help students who need extra assistance with English language to gain admission.

Financial Aid

Students who enroll for a course in the UK can get support in the form of scholarships, bursaries, grants, fellowships, and financial awards. These may be funded by the government, public/private organizations or institutions. Since a lot of students apply to these scholarships, we recommended you to apply in advance to beat competition and keep aware of the deadline to apply.

Academic Year

The standard academic year in the UK begins around the month of September – October. The deadline for applications for courses commencing in September is generally in the preceding January of that year. Two other intakes available for programs in the UK are January and April, which are usually smaller than the September intake. Pathway programs may have additional dates to offer. Always check for the intakes available for your course of preference.

Popular programs

• Physiotherapy
• Law
• Actuarial Science
• Sports Management
• Medicine & Surgery

Higher Education:
Did you know that it’s possible to study in the UK without IELTS?
Although IELTS is generally considered a prerequisite for your application and a good IELTS score strengthens it, IELTS can be waived if students meet certain criteria.

Conditions in which IELTS is waived:
->An assessment of your class X and XII English language scores
Some UK universities will consider competence in the language of an applicant based on the score in matriculation and senior secondary in English. Admissions of students with a score of 60% or above in 10th and 12th class are allowed by some UK universities. Sometimes only your class 12th score is taken into consideration since it’s the later of the two scores.

->If you studied in an English medium school
If the students have English as the medium of instruction throughout their academic life and overall good grades, then an admission committee may waive the IELTS requirement.

->Conducting a Telephone/Skype interview
Before making a final decision on applications, some universities prefer to speak to the applicants. Usually they are interviewed over telephone calls which could be at your nearest test centre. This interview can determine their English language competence and if they manage to impress the interviewer sufficiently, there is a good chance that university may waive IELTS.

UK universities offering admissions without IELTS to international students
Conditional offers are given at:
• Birmingham City University
• The University of Bristol
• Sheffield Hallam University
• University of Warwick
• London Southbank University
• Northumbria University
• Robert Gordon University
• The University of Bolton
• University of Plymouth
• University of Portsmouth
• Swansea University
• University of Greenwich
• University of Central Lancashire
• Aston University

A student may face refusal of a place on the course if he/ she does not possess excellent verbal and written English language skills and percentage of marks secured in English doesn’t meet the entry criteria.
In this case, Novus Education can help you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills by providing the right IELTS course to suit your needs.

Intakes of UK Universities:
The academic year in the UK tracks from September to July. The preponderance of university courses in London begin in September, even though some courses also begin in January and February. September intake is better than the January intake considering the density of courses offered.
• September / October
• January / February (Few Universities)

The deadlines for each intake are usually a few months prior to the start date. It is extremely important that you apply early to exploit your chances for admission.

Required application documents:
Along with your personal information, you will need to submit photocopied evidence confirming your identity and academic history. These may include:
• Birth certificate
• Passport, national identification card
• Reference letters, if required
• Evidence of English competency (TOEFL, IELTS, C1 Advanced scores)
• Copies of degree/diploma certificates
• Academic transcripts

Graduate applicants may also be required to submit a research proposal.
Most or all of the document copies will have to be verified by a professional authority who will confirm their authenticity. If a document/statement is not in English, an official notarized translation may be required. In some cases, universities may ask for additional documents after you have submitted your application. To avoid delays or missed deadlines send your evidence with plenty of time in advance.

Visa Categories:
There are two student categories under Tier 4 of the points-based system:
• Tier 4 (General) Student Visa – This category is for students coming to the UK for higher education and the applicant must be at least 16 years old.
• Tier 4 (Child) Student Visa – This category is for children between 4 and 15 years of age coming to the UK for their education. Children between 4 and 15 years old can only be educated at independent fee-paying schools.
If you are enrolled in a bachelors degree program or higher at a UK college that is listed on both the official UKBA Sponsor list and the list of recognized bodies, you are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week for (Tier 4 General) and work full-time during vacations or summer holidays.

Latest update: The UK government has announced the reinstatement of the two-year post-study work visa for international students. The new immigration rules will benefit those international students who are planning to pursue their higher studies in the UK starting from 2020-21.
Cost of Visa
The fee for the Tier 4 General Visa is £348. The methods of payment are stated below.
• Online using either a MasterCard or Visa card
• Through demand draft at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.
• Through Cash at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.

You should have the following documents before applying:

• A completed student visa application form
A letter of acceptance on the course – Your approved education provider will give you an acceptance letter (CAS) and a visa letter which are official and unconditional offers of a place on a course of study. The visa letter must be issued no more than six months before you apply. The applications where the visa letters are older than six months will be refused.
Having a visa letter does not guarantee the application will be successful. The applicant must meet all the requirements of the category and any other requirements of the immigration rules.
• Proof of funds – The money you need to show covers your course fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of nine months. You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application.

The tuition fees to study in the UK ranges from 10,000 GBP to 22,000 GBP per annum. The tuition fees mostly depends on the university that you are applying to and the average living expenses would be around 10,000 GBP to 12000 GBP per annum depending on the location of the University. So, we can say that the total estimated cost of education in UK per annum including tuition fees and living expenses comes up to 20,000 GBP to 30,000 GBP.
